A Beit Sahour Christmas

It is during the Christmas season when I most enjoy living in our village. Although just down the hill from Bethlehem, our village is very much its own, independent place. While the vast majority of foreign tourists flock to Nativity Square in early December to attend the tree lighting ceremony, we prefer our local event that takes place just outside our front door! Our tree lighting celebration was held last Thursday. With this being our third year living here, we knew the routine…but with one tiny exception! Beit Sahour has a brand new Christmas tree this year!

The scout parade which begins the event. This year the parade started in front of our home. Our street:

Watching the scouts go by. What the picture does not show is Elizabeth’ active participation. She loved waving her arms to the music. Sarah, on the other hand, found the music to set the perfect mood for a little nap.

Elizabeth’s friend, E (the son of our first nanny), plays the drum in one of the scout groups.
