Weekly Birthdays

When Elizabeth was first born, we identified the passing of time by the number of hours. “Elizabeth is 5 hours old!”. At some point in time, we will transition to marking time by months and then years. But for now, time is marked by the number of weeks since Elizabeth’s birth. Elizabeth is rapidly approaching her 6-week birthday.

We will wait and see what we will do on Elizabeth’s 6-week birthday. But here is a glimpse at her recent birthday celebrations!

Elizabeth at 1-week, a birthday she shared with her Grandpa Sauder and his twin, Great Aunt Marian. It was a quiet day spent relaxing by the soft light of the Christmas tree.

2 Weeks and another quiet day at home where we enjoyed getting to know each other more and more!

Tante Emmanuelle joined us for Elizabeth’s 3-week birthday.  We celebrated with a special cake made by Tante Emmanuelle. It’s strawberry season in Israel, which added an extra special touch to the festivities!

Grandpa and Grandma Sauder were here to celebrate four weeks. Enjoying a bath under the supervision of Grandma Sauder.

Elizabeth’s 4-week birthday was a very special day for her; the day she applied for her Dutch passport and was registered as a citizen of The Netherlands. Her application for her American passport and registration as citizen of the United States took place the following week, just one day shy of her 5-weeks birthday. Lucky gal…two nationalities at such a young age!!

Elizabeth’s 5-week birthday was even more special as she was in the presence of all four of her grandparents. J’s parents and aunt arrived early in the morning, joining my parents as our guests. Elizabeth was properly spoiled and showered with love and attention!

So adorable! I do miss the sweet snuggly baby stage (but not the sleeplessness...I'm still getting enough of that).
