a few more random shots of France

The flower market in Nice...a wonderful sight to absorb! After a long and dreary winter in New England, the bright colors of flowers were a wonderful reminder of the promise of springtime :)

We hiked around this penisula, allowing for some great views of the Mediterranean and soaking in the rays of the warm sun.

A painting by Marc Chagall, depicting Moses and the burning bush. A modern painter with a Jewish heritage, many of his paintings had a religious theme. Chagall lived in Nice for many years, and the city has a museum dedicated to his artwork.

Overlooking Monaca, a very small (you see it in its entirety in this picture!), independent city-state complete with its own monarchy. Monaco is known among Americans as the home of the Hollywood star turned princess -- Princess Grace. Monaco is also where the famous Grand Prix Formula 1 car race takes place. Honestly...I don't know a thing about car racing, but I felt it should be mentioned :)

The palace in Monaco.
