The days have been full while we have been in Holland – so busy that I have not even managed to keep up with at least posting a picture a day on this blog! Hmm…do I try to catch up or just pick up here in the present?
Not sure…but in the meantime, enjoy this delightful picture of Sarah enjoying verjaardag gebakjes (little birthday desserts that are usually served at birthday parties). She is a girl who truly delights in her food!
On Tuesday we traveled to the house in Erkartswiller, France. We will spend the week with J’s brother and his family.
The girls did great in the car. Lots of books were read…
…afternoon naps, of course…
…and fun and exercise and snacks at the occasional stop along the way.
Traveling with a sister makes the experience just so much better!
We arrived around 5:00 in the afternoon and had a nice dinner before putting the girls to bed for the night.
A national holiday in Holland, it is a day filled with festivity and fun. It was my first time celebrating the day in Holland. My sister-in-law made all the necessary preparations to be sure that we would be properly dressed to show off our patriotism! Unfortunately it was a little cold, so some of our orange was hidden under our jackets. But fortunately, the predicted rain never appeared and it was a lovely, sunny day!
Walking by the Harderwijk windmill en route to the main event…
…the neighborhood flea market! For the Americans – think of it as one city-wide garage sale with the occasional band to add some live music.
These three girls made quite an impression walking around the streets of Harderwijk.

We are in France for a few days. We had beautiful weather today and took full advantage of it. Tomorrow the weather turns rainy and cold. I promise more pictures of our time here, but for now I will share this favorite one of the girls enjoying the little bicycles with their Papa.

She still needs a few more lessons, but her enthusiasm runs high despite the frustrations!
